vintage cross stitched linen 38″ tablecloth & 8 napkins

$75.00

Vintage (1950s or 60s) cross stitched 38″ square linen tablecloth with eight matching 11″ square napkins, embellished with classic motifs dating back to the lace modelbuchs of the 1600s. The size of the tablecloth indicates it was likely used as a luncheon cloth used to cover a card table.

Cross stitches with backstiches are used for the motifs and borders with four-sided stitch used for the tablecloth’s hems. The stitching is skillfully worked, and just wait until you see how tidy the reverse side is!

In excellent condition, the only flaw I can find is a couple of loose four-sided stitches in the border.

An elegant, very usable gift for anyone who loves needlework and vintage textiles! Machine wash on the gentle cycle (hot water can be used) without bleach for many years of delight.
