vintage 2 birds with cross mola applique embroidery
$21.95
Molas are a hand sewn, layered reverse-applique needlework technique traditional to the Kuna people of Panama. These were made for the tourist trade in the 1970s, are completely hand-stitched and in excellent condition. The fabric is a lightweight cotton much like muslin. This mola has loose threads around the edges, indicating that it was removed from a garment; the bright orange of the first photo is the most accurate for color. The size is 11″ by 16″, perfect for a pillow or to frame.
