Victorian era embroidered scissors case with goldwork
Very pretty late Victorian era scissors case decorated with wool embroidery and couched Japan gold metal thread on a soft grey-blue linen fabric (more muted than the photo appears). Lined with a colorful calico fabric, the two sides are sewn together with a decorative stitch. The wool used for the embroidery is a soft and fluffy tapestry yarn, very similar to Orchidee.
Measures about 4-1/8″ long and 2-1/4″ across at the widest point.
In excellent condition; the only flaws I see are very light soiling and a bit of unwrapping to the gold near the middle of the case.
