pair vintage hand carved mismatched light horn thread winders
Lovely vintage deliberately mismatched pair of hand-carved thread winders made from horn, dating to the last quarter of the 20th century in a much older style. Each measures 1-1/2 inches across at the widest point.
One is translucent beige horn with round insets of very dark horn and incised whorls at each point that have been accented with white ink or wax. The dark inserts show on both sides.
The other is slightly more opaque light horn with incised circles that have been accented with dark blue ink or dye.
They are very smooth and will be suitable for even the most delicate threads. You can see the the fine graining and textures of these natural materials in the photos.
The condition is excellent and both winders appear unused. They are study enough for everyday use in your sewing box.
