circa 1800 Georgian gold filigree metal tape measure

This ornate but diminutive Georgian golden metal filigree tape measure dates from the early 19th century; the metal tests as 10 karat but is more likely a thick coat of plating. The soft brown woven silk tape has numbers and inch lines hand embroidered with bright yellow silk thread. The ribbon is about 7″ long with the original metal end, in very good condition and unwinds and rewinds smoothly by using the mechanism built into the finial. About 1″ high (including the finial) by 3/4″ across. Made in England.

In excellent condition, quite exceptional in every aspect. No maker’s mark.

A signature will be required at delivery, and insurance is included in the price.
