c1880 carved bone banded umbrella needle case
This intricate late 19th century bone needle case is carved into the shape of an umbrella decorated with elaborate geometric bands. It separates into two pieces to allow access to the needles.
The condition is generally very good with no damage to the sharp carved points at the top of the folded umbrella; there are several fine cracks in the upper portion at the closure. Both the very thin handle and fine point at the bottom are undamaged. The screw closure is a bit tricky to line up properly but once aligned, it closes securely. Circa 1880. 4-1/4″ long overall.
