Larger-than-usual hand carved mother of pearl thread or silk winder made in Canton (China) circa 1860 for export to England. The shell is very white and glossy with etched circular details on both sides, but slightly different designs.
Condition is excellent. 1-3/4″ across with an almost rainbow iridescent luster.
