c1840 sampler with dog, peacocks and sheep

This 1830s sampler features an array of animals– three peacocks, four sheep and a ram all in a row, a dog, and what I think may be a partridge or grouse (center bottom) as well as baskets and trees and a man with a blue jacket and a black hat. It was worked on a natural brown linen with fine twisted wool (possibly wool-linen blended) yarn and an even finer twisted silk thread. There are dozens of two-letter initials scattered throughout. It’s definitely of European origin, possibly Scottish, but I can’t be sure. It measures 12-1/2″ wide by 18″ high.

While there is damage all around the edges, the rest of the sampler is in good condition. There’s some stitch loss to the wool stitches and a few small areas that are lighter, as if the linen ground was bleached or faded. The sampler is hand-sewn to a large piece of fabric which has prevented further damage.
