c1830 tiny pierced mother of pearl thread winder 1-1/4″ across

Tiny hand carved mother of pearl thread or silk winder made in Canton (China) sometime during 1820-30’s for export to England. The shell is very white and glossy with delicate, intricate piercings and etched details on both sides.

Condition is excellent, with only a couple of tiny pin-point sized nicks along the edges; you can see them under magnification but they’re scarcely visible otherwise. 1-1/4″ across with a beautiful, almost iridescent luster.
