c1820s carved mother of pearl handled scissors with flowers

A stunning early 19th century French small steel blade embroidery scissors with elaborately carved floral motif mother of pearl handles. 4 inches in length, with 1-1/2 inch long blades and the handles are about 1-3/4 inches long. Please view the closeup photos to see the intricate details. The caps above the handles are bright gold with a textured pattern; they test as 10k gold but are actually plated. There is a small hallmark on the blade just above the screw that I can’t identify but this scissors was likely part of a complete set of accessories in an ornate presentation box produced for sale at the Palais Royale in the early 1800s.

There is a spot of rust on the screw head and another nearby on the metal near the base of the blades. No other signs of damage and the blades are still sharp and open and close smoothly.

Condition is very good, and while sturdy enough to snip the occasional thread, at nearly 200 years old this is not a tool intended for everyday use! A signature will be required at delivery.
