c1820 hand carved bone acorn filigree needle book

This circa 1820 needle book is carved in a delicate openwork pattern of acorns and oak leaves. It measures 3-1/4″ high by 2-1/4″ wide and is lined with pale blue silk taffeta (which shows through the openwork). Inside is a folded piece of fine wool fabric with a hand-stitched buttonhole edging to hold needles.

The condition is very good; the upper back corner has a chip and the bone covers are very slightly warped.
