19th century vegetable ivory acorn form thimble case with matching thimble
$85.00
Acorn-form thimble case intricately carved from Coquille nut or “vegetable ivory” (the seed of a palm tree), dating from the second half of the 19th century, plus a matching thimble also carved of vegetable ivory. 2″ high by 1-1/2″ across.
The exterior of the acorn case and thimble are in excellent condition with no visible damage. There is damage to the inner lip of the lower half of the acorn into the screw threads but it does not affect the closure; the top still screws on securely. Very pretty piece with lovely details on the case and thimble, both in a warm caramel shade.
