19th century gilt-metal chatelaine etui or thimble case
Late 19th century gilt metal etui or thimble case chatelaine accessory; there is a tiny loop on the top of the lid for a chatelaine chain clasp, or a chain or cord could be threaded through to wear the case as a pendant. It’s about 2″ long.
The etui case probably held a small thimble and a metal bobbin to wind thread onto, but it is empty. It’s a slightly orange, almost coppery gold tone and both the color and the engraved patterns match the cap on the delightful expanding purse offered separately. The cap closes securely.
Very good condition overall with expected but minimal signs of use and age. No hallmarks found.
