19th century dark brass chatelaine with 5 original tools
Late 19th century dark brass filigree metal chatelaine with five linked chains; the 2-1/4″ square plaque has a hinged waist clip on the back and fittings from what appears to have been a pinback for a brooch. Overall length is 10-1/2″.
The five accessories match and are original to the piece; all feature elaborate floral repouseé patterns. The needlecase measures 2-1/2′ long and closes smoothly and securely. The tape measure case is about 1-1/4″ across with a bright pink silk printed tape; the fitting at the metal end is missing along with a couple inches of the tape. The thimble bucket contains a plain but probably original thimble. The scissors sheath is about 2-1/4″ long. The book form pincushion measures about 2-1/4″ by 1-1/4″ with worn pink fabric covering.
Very good condition overall with expected signs of use and age. No noted repairs and no hallmarks found. This item will require a signature at delivery.
