1908 sterling heart form etui with scissors & thimble hallmarked England
Heart-shaped Sterling Silver etui designed to be worn as a pendant or added to a chatelaine, opens to reveal a scissors and thimble. Made in Birmingham England in 1908 by Grey & Co., an upscale silversmith and hallmarked with the lion, “i” indicating the year, the anchor for Birmingham and the company name. The small steel 2-1/2″ scissors is marked “Louise Germany” and the Sterling thimble is marked as size 10. Measures about 3-1/2″ high and 1-78″ at the widest part. 2 jump rings are attached to the the tiny loop at the top; this piece originally had an intricate macramé cord which disintegrated to dust when touched. The interior is lined.
Excellent condition with only a few minor dings and shallow scratches. Closes securely. Scissors is slightly stiff and has a few dark spots. Sturdy enough to wear, use and enjoy on a daily basis.
