1890s Shrimpton & Sons Mitrailleuse Needle Case
$30.00
Late 19th century Victorian antique Alfred Shrimpton & Sons Redditch “Mitrailleuse-style” needle case (top is unmarked, bottom reads “Best English Egg Eye 50 Sharp Steel Needles”). Both ends are a dull bronze or gunmetal. The body of the case is a deep green with brassy gold lettering. While most of the text is in English, the instructions are in Spanish!
One end has a tiny hole so a single needle can be shaken out, which closes so none will spill out. Needles are reinserted in the same manner. Very good condition otherwise, some expected wear to both cap ends.
“Mitrailleuse” refers to a type of 19th century cannon which the shape of the needle case resembles.
