1890s Jahnke’s Patent Mitrailleuse Needle Case
$12.00
Late 19th century Victorian antique Jahnke’s Patent Mitrailleuse Needle Case (stamped into the top, bottom reads W. Woodfield & Sons Best 100 Needles Redditch England). Both gold caps are embossed and the case itself has a rich gold overall pattern reminiscent of Japanese paper with a metallic sparkle.
One end has a tiny hole so a single needle can be shaken out, which closes so none will spill out. The cap comes off to replace the needles but I am unable to remove it. Very good condition otherwise, some expected wear to embossed printing on both cap ends.
“Mitrailleuse” refers to a type of 19th century cannon which the shape of the needle case resembles.
