1882 reprint of Quentell’s 16th century Modelbuch of charts & lace illustrations

A very rare 1882 reproduction of Peter Quentel’s Modelbuch from the 16th century, including all 80 plates. Most museum copies only contain 47 pattern plates or fewer. Originally published as a portfolio, the “pages” are printed on very heavy paper, almost like a card stock that were later bound into a hardcover volume.

The pattern plates are a mix of ornamental line drawings and designs charted on graph paper.

Pages are quite tanned, and the first five are somewhat brittle, with the title and introduction pages having some staining and chipping along the edges. The rest of the pages are in very good condition. Page edges are gilt. 8″ by 9-1/2″ by 1″ thick overall book dimensions. The hardcover is in excellent condition.
