c1650 English lace, Holbein & cross stitch band sampler 10″ x 36″

Exceptional 17th century English band sampler almost evenly divided between sections of needlelace and rows of Holbein and long armed cross stitch motifs and borders. It measures about 10″ by 36″ with a framed size of 19″ by 46″.

The condition appears quite good. There are some age spots and stained areas but no tears, holes or missing stitches. It was difficult to get photos through the glass, but I will be glad to take more on request. A wonderful example of needlework history.

It has not been examined out of the frame, and I suspect the sampler has been glued along the edges onto the matboard (the body of the sampler appears to be loose, not glued down). The frame is very large and heavy with damaged gesso and gilding, and I would be willing to discuss removing the sampler for easier shipping. Please contact me with any questions.

The sampler will be shipped well wrapped and padded in a sturdy box. A signature will be required at delivery and insurance is included in the price.
