antique cast iron double spool holder

$135.00

Circa 1900 large cast iron thread holder made by The Spool Cotton Company, which holds two large commercial style spools or cones of thread (the ones shown weigh about a pound and are 8″ high). This may have been used in a factory to hold sewing thread (see the holes in the base to screw it to a table), or as a display in a general store. Martha Stewart uses one to hold baker’s twine in her kitchen! Knitters and weavers love these, too.

27″ high by 10″ across and very heavy, the individual saucers for the spools are about 4-1/2″ across. In excellent condition.
